applications for the 2025 board are open!

fall association meeting is held 29.10. at 18:00 onwards

why you should apply?

Being part of the Boost board is an amazing opportunity to develop your personal skills, expand your network and immerse yourself in the ES community and startup ecosystem in Finland. As part of the board you can make a big impact on the development of the Turku startup ecosystem.

who can apply?

As Boost is an student-run organization and our events are targeted towards students, it would be optimal that you're a student (or at least have your right to study still active). During the years some board members have also worked besides the board work, which has led to a small pause in their studies.

So it's a plus if you're a student.

How to apply?

The application process has two stages and the process goes by the official rules of the association. So read them carefully!

  • The Board applications open on 14.10. and are open until 3.11. at 23:59.
  • The Chairperson applications open on 14.10. and close 24.10. at 23:59.

Once we have received the Chairperson applications we will post them on this page so every member can get to know the applicants and vote better during the Fall Association meeting.

The Association meetings hold the highest power of authority of Boost Turku ry by law. So a lot of things regarding next year will be decided in the Fall Association meeting, like the new Chairperson and budget for 2025!

  • All Boost members can run to become the new Chairperson, so it's not completely mandatory to send the application. However, sending the application beforehand (24.10.) increases your chances A LOT since people know what you're about!

Once the new Chairperson is selected he/she will have the great task of recruiting/forming the new board for 2025. The Chairperson will go over all the people who have applied and interview them.

  • The new Chairperson will have two weeks to finalize his/her decision and present the new formation of the board in the 2nd Fall Association meeting, where the new board will be officially selected.

Vision for Boost

My vision for Boost Turku is to create an even more inclusive and dynamic platform that empowers students and aspiring entrepreneurs to take their ideas from concept to reality. I envision Boost becoming a central hub for innovation, where students from diverse backgrounds, industries, and disciplines can collaborate, learn, and access the resources they need to succeed in the competitive startup ecosystem. I would focus on strengthening partnerships with local businesses, universities, and other entrepreneurial organizations to provide more mentorship opportunities, workshops, and funding access. Additionally, I aim to enhance our community’s visibility on a national and international level, fostering an environment where Turku is recognized as a leader in innovation. My goal is to ensure that every member of Boost feels supported and inspired to push boundaries, think creatively, and drive real impact, not only in their startups but also in the broader entrepreneurial landscape.

What changes would you make?

If selected as Chairperson of Boost Turku, I would implement the following changes to enhance the organization:

Strengthening Community Engagement: I would initiate regular networking events and collaboration opportunities with local startups, established businesses, and alumni. This would create a stronger support network and facilitate knowledge sharing among members.

Expanding Educational Offerings: I would introduce a series of workshops and seminars covering essential skills for entrepreneurs, such as fundraising, digital marketing, and product development. Inviting industry experts as speakers would enrich our learning experience.

Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives: I would prioritize creating a more inclusive environment by actively promoting diverse voices within our events and initiatives. This could include outreach programs targeting underrepresented groups in entrepreneurship.

Feedback Mechanism: Establishing a structured feedback loop with members would allow us to better understand their needs and continuously improve our offerings. Regular surveys and suggestion boxes would facilitate this process.

Mentorship Program: I would launch a formal mentorship program connecting experienced entrepreneurs and professionals with students looking to develop their business ideas. This would provide valuable guidance and support.

Enhanced Digital Presence: Improving our online presence through social media campaigns and a revamped website would help us reach a wider audience and better showcase our initiatives and success stories. By focusing on these areas, I aim to elevate Boost Turku’s impact and foster a vibrant entrepreneurial community that empowers members to thrive.

Why you?

I believe I should be elected as the next Chairperson of Boost Turku for several compelling reasons:

Passion for Entrepreneurship: My enthusiasm for the startup ecosystem and commitment to fostering innovation drives my desire to lead Boost. I am deeply invested in creating a thriving community for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Strong Leadership Skills: My experience in various leadership roles has equipped me with the ability to coordinate teams effectively, manage projects, and inspire collaboration. I aim to lead by example and create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued.

Vision for Growth: I have a clear vision for Boost that includes enhancing member engagement, expanding our educational initiatives, and strengthening our ties with local startups and industries. I am dedicated to transforming this vision into actionable plans.

Problem-Solving Mindset: I possess a proactive approach to challenges, allowing me to address issues efficiently and creatively. I am open to feedback and continuously seeking ways to improve our organization.

Commitment to Inclusion: I am passionate about creating an inclusive and diverse environment at Boost, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued. I believe this diversity fosters innovation and creativity.

Track Record of Success: I have successfully led and participated in various projects and initiatives, both academically and in previous internships, which have honed my organizational and strategic planning skills. This experience positions me well to effectively guide Boost, ensuring that we achieve our goals and make a meaningful impact on our community.

By electing me as Chairperson, I am confident that I can drive Boost towards new heights, empowering our members and enhancing our impact on the startup ecosystem in Turku.

Vision for Boost

My vision for boost is to expand it and make it known for more people, and to manage to get them involved in boost. I would like to get new exiting partnerships that would help Boost grow. And I would love to continue making Boost a welcoming organisation for new people where they can grow.

What changes would you make?

Boost has come far already, there isn’t a lot i would like to change, rather improve what already exists. Ans on the way to the top I would obviously change the things that does not work.

Why you?

I am a goal-focused person. When i have a goal I aim to reach it. I am very hardworking and well focused. I have the drive and fire in me to do a lot of things even if it is not the easiest task. I live helping people reach the goal with me, in other words, if i have a team i would live to lead them to the goal and make them become the best version of themselves on the way to the top. I do not easiley let go of a task when it is diffucilt or when i have failed a few times. I love to still give it ”one more” chance until i eventually make it.

Vision for Boost

My vision for Boost is to combine existing concepts of Female Founder and Technical Hackathons, to impact in having more women in Tech involved in the Turku area. This will increase the number of tech-oriented female founders in the Turku Startup culture and also encourage women with non-tech backgrounds to have their own startups and businesses. Regardless of everyone’s academic/work experiences, tech is entering and evolving in almost every field. There is a lack of confidence in people belonging to non-tech fields, for instance, in learning programming basics. The same goes for a tech professional, feeling insecure at times in a non-tech environment. An example in the field of biotech can be a Biologist feeling intimidated by using a new Scanning Equipment and Software, and an Engineer feeling scared to learn that why Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. Almost every field is becoming cross-disciplinary, and I intend to bridge those gaps between tech and non-tech people by organizing field-specific hackathons and events.

What changes would you make?

I want to change the Blog Post content by adding at least 1 post per week. I want to add more written content through different blogging styles, such as a Personal Blog can be a Guest Post of a participant’s experience at Startup Crawl, a Cooking Blog can be from one of the Board Members who was making eggs at the Community Breakfast, a Tech Blog can be from the Board Member who is organizing hackathons, and so on. I also want to categorize Blog Topics, especially to highlight Startup Entrepreneurship experiences. These are creative themes, and I want to use this approach to add the details of Boost events in a Humorous way using SEO practices as well. This can cover all Boost topics. We can reach more people through engaging Blogging Content. This will help people easily relate to Boost in a grounded way. I want to change the temporary office space that Boost has, although my leads in finding office space in Turku are not so good, I am willing to learn more about it and become more familiar with the plan of having a Boost Office Space. I want to contact event organizing places to have a 6-month/1 year budget plan so that Boost can easily organize events in spaces that have an office setup, projector connection, enough chairs and desks, kitchen area and bathrooms. I want to change the workshop programs in Startup Marathon and Startup Journey by emphasizing on Technical and Academic Writing. Developing Business Plans, Technical Reports, Scientific Papers, Manuals, and Reviews, without ChatGPT tools; I want to conduct practical workshops where participants face their writing fears and genuinely start to enjoy different writing styles. Where ideas, pitch practising, presenting in front of investors, and public speaking are highly important skills in the startup area, writing is equally significant. Just by sending engaging cold emails to potential investors and advisors could help in one’s startup business.

Why you?

I can achieve my vision because I am an engineer myself, who has worked in Tech and Biomedical Sciences separately, where I used Sales tactics to bridge the gaps between cross-disciplinary concepts. I overcame my lack of confidence in multidisciplinary projects by participating in Hackathons, doing small side projects, communicating with my former supervisors/mentors/references and going to the gym. I can bring the importance of writing because I have worked with multiple Writing Styles for over 12 years. I went through the process of hating my course assignments to writing good publications and enjoying the Literature Review writing. During my work experience in hospitals, academia, biomedical sciences, neuroscience, embedded systems (Software/Hardware), image processing, retail industry clothing marketing, and fashion blogs; Writing has always been a continuous task. Developing the Unit Testing strategy for the RISC-V Chip architecture-based design using C and RISC-V assembly languages was easier than writing the GitLab readme file. My official leadership experiences are very few, however, I have been able to organize multiple sports events as a volunteer at Turku CampusSport by myself and gained charge on certain work tasks where I had to communicate between board members and software/hardware designers. I am willing to take training from the current Chair, and ED, and reach out to advisors to learn management and search for certifications as well. I am currently learning agile development. It would be nice to receive feedback during this process so that I can improve and achieve what is best for Boost and the participants! The final reason for selecting me is that I have a study gap year so that I will be available for Boost activities, and I am currently living in Turku for the entire academic year of 2025.

Vision for Boost

In my vision Boost provides a meeting ground to meet cool, likeminded people, start sparring them about your ideas, learning the basics of the startup world, founding companies, having access to tools to make these companies successful. And having a good time while doing all of this. All of this for free? I think that's pretty cool and something to strive for.

What changes would you make?

I think the previous boards have done an excellent job creating a variety of events, so the next board should focus on improving the quality and expanding these events even further while encouraging participation from people across different faculties, as well as from TUAS, Åbo Akademi, and Novia. Engaging the community more in the creation of events would also be a nice touch. Boost events should also become more mainstream and not just for the (weird) people who like startups. That means lower barrier of entry to at least come check out what Boost is all about.

Why you?

I've been an active member of the Boost community for about 2 years now. I have seen the resent rise of Boost and now is not the time to take it easy. Now is the time to leverage the momentum Boost has gained to grow it even more. I believe I am the right person to do this. I have great leadership experience from being a founder and also learned a couple of things what to do and not to do from corporate world. But most importantly I have passion to grow the startup ecosystem in Turku since I am a founder myself and I have seen and felt the benefits myself that Boost can provide to startups.
